The Politics and Anti-Politics of Social Movements

Drawing on social movement theories, this book explores the nature, significance and consequences of the religious activism surrounding HIV/AIDS in Africa. It offers a unique and compelling analysis of how and why African religious communities, often in conjunction with their partners abroad, mobilize to provide treatment, care and support for people infected with or affected by AIDS.
