Sustainability and Design Ethics

Major revisions of traditional professional codes of ethics are required to reflect emerging environmental concerns and the corresponding standards of care and professional practice. Drawing on business ethics principles and his own experience as a design professional, the author presents a unique exposition of the underlying ethical reasoning involved in the challenges confronted by contemporary design professionals. It considers the implications of sustainability from traditional ethical points of view and provides a balanced analysis of how a sustainable standard of care might be composed.
