The Dynamics of Shoreline Wetlands and Sediments of Northern Lake Victoria
This research presents evidence of the influence of wind-induced waves and currents on transport of surficial sediments. Paleolimnological reconstructions from bottom sediments confirmed earlier assessements that climate change was a co-driver of lake ecosystem change. Eutrophication may lead to the destruction of a number of littoral plant species and induces change in fish populations. The introduction of measures to reduce nutrient exports to the lake is recommended.
