Structures & Architecture

Drawn from the proceedings at the first International Conference on Structures & Architecture held in Guimaraes, Portugal, this collection of papers and accompanying CD-ROM focuses on research and development merging architecture and structural engineering. The selected contributions deal with recent advances in the art and practice of designing and building infrastructures in which the structural and architectonic values are consciously combined and the contribution of each other is mutually enhanced. It includes sections on concrete, masonry, steel, composite, glass and timber structures; lightweight and membrane structures; new materials; complex forms; computer and experimental methods; and emerging technologies.
