Role of Sediment in the Design and Management of Irrigation Canals
This book contains research that analyses relevant aspects of sediment transport in irrigation canals and then suggests a design and management approach. Content assesses various design parameters that affect the hydraulic and sediment transport performance. It also proposes a procedure to correct equilibrium sediment transport predictors so that they include the effects of shear and velocity distribution in non-wide irrigation canals. To analyze the impact of operation and maintenance on sediment movement, the author applies a mathematical model SETRIC, using a case study of Sunsari Morang Irrigation Scheme in Nepal.
