Military, Monarchy and Repression

Thailand’s recent politics has been contentious and violent. Military coups in 2006 and 2014 marked a transition from electoral democracy to military dictatorship and the embedding of authoritarianism. This book examines this contentious politics addressing inequality, the rise of military, the monarchy, civil society, non-elected bodies and efforts to establish an anti-electoral "Thai-style democracy."
