Description of Manuscript Submission Types:
• Empirical Research: Research based on observed and measured phenomena and derives knowledge from actual experience rather than from theory or belief. Manuscripts typically include a research question, literature review, theoretical framework, methodology, findings/results, and discussion.
• Theoretical Research: Research that analyzes, interrogates, clarifies or compares theories or social trends through rigorous analysis of relevant and high quality literature and theoretical argumentation. For example, a review of literature is considered theoretical research. Theoretical research typically includes a research focus/argument, literature review, methodology, discussion, and implications.
• Critical Pedagogy in Practice (CPP): A descriptive analysis of a pedagogical practice or program that exemplifies critical pedagogy, designed and/or enacted by one or more of the authors. Action Research, Design-Based Research, Youth-Led Participatory Action Research, and Practitioner Inquiry are all types of research that could lead to manuscripts considered for a CPP submission. CCP submissions typically include a description of problem and context. relevant literature, program or practice description, discussion and implications.
• Opinion (invitation only): A commentary on a significant issue or debate, or regarding topics related to the aims and scope of the journal. Opinion manuscripts are invited.
• Special Issues: Manuscripts for special issues. As special issues have unique requirements for manuscripts, authors should read the calls for manuscripts for each special issue for more details.
